Sun Shines for Visual Connections Victorian Golf Day
21-Nov-2024The sun shone on Melbourne’s beautiful Sandhurst Golf Club yesterday for the inaugural Visual Connections Victorian Golf Day.
Players teed off at 12.30pm for 18 holes of golf, played in the Ambrose format, which prioritises player enjoyment and teamwork over golfing ability, making it a fun day for all who participated.
Competition was keen and scores were close, but eventually it was the team from Exponet – Richard Stehn, Jason Wong, Steve Todorov and Ulie Preciado – who took out first prize, which was presented by Ian Parsonson, Managing Director of the event’s Platinum Sponsor, HEXIS.
Along the way there were plenty of other prizes, from nearest the hole, to longest drive and the challenging Survivor Ball competition. These were provided by Gold Sponsors Durst, Gel Events, Graphic Art Mart, ORAFOL Australia and Spicers, and Novelty Hole sponsors Böttcher, Get Rigged, Labels Plus Magazine and Signarama. Currie Group also supported the day by sponsoring the much-appreciated Drinks Cart which kept players refreshed all afternoon.
The event concluded with the first of two celebration dinners to honour outgoing CEO, Peter Harper, which was attended by all the golfers and some 30 additional industry identities, keen to thank Peter for his outstanding contribution and to wish him well on his retirement.
Visual Connections Board Member, Mark Canavan from Graphic Art Mart, shared highlights of Peter’s career with the gathering, noting that he had helped to write some of the most exciting and significant chapters in the story of the industry. This was followed by a tribute from Sarah Moore, General Manager – Exhibitions & Events, on behalf of the Visual Connections Team.
Another, final Celebration Dinner will be held next Thursday 28 November, at The Deckhouse, Woolwich. This event will also include a short AGM, giving attendees a chance to hear more about the Association’s activities and achievements during Peter’s final year at the helm.
